The Lekurruki conservancy has been lucky enough to be chosen by Excellent Development, to be the pilot project for sand dams within the Northern Rangeland Trust.
This is a project that will benefit the lives of all members of the community who have had 0% access to improved water sources. It will benefit the lodge, the wildlife, the management of the conservancy through grazing plans / water sources and sustainable development.
The people responsible for making this possible and continue to do so are Excellent Development (http://www.excellentdevelopment.com/home) and the African Sand Dam Foundation (http://www.asdfafrica.org/home/home). Their expertise will eventually rub off onto us, we hope to then spread the projects further afield to other conservancies.
